My name is Jacob Pickett, this is Venture Collective Co.

Created as a creative outlet. It’s been a personal passion project. VCC has now developed and grown into a platform to promote a progressive portfolio for a variety of industries. From craft coffee, manufacturing to surfing. Devoted to creating, building progressive media, analysis, marketing, campaigns, and projects.

Offering services built around visual storytelling, content, and branding including photography, videography, media, marketing, and consulting.

My work lives at the intersection of creativity and community. As a photographer, social media manager, and barista, Ive helped coffee brands build genuine roots in their local scenes - connecting them with artists, musicians, and makers through pop-up shops, live music events, and handcrafted recipes that brought people through the door and kept them coming back.

That same drive to connect people brought me to the ocean. As a surf instructor and filmmaker, I’ve worked alongside nonprofits throughout Baja California, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua teaching people of all ages how to surf, respect the ocean, and understand its ecosystem. In Todos Santos, Baja California, I traveled with the Los Cabo’s Children Foundation to host a surf camp that gave local kids access to the water and the culture around it. In Scorpion Bay, we helped jumpstart the Scorpion Bay Surfing Association - laying the foundation for a surf community the could sustain itself long after we left. With the support of generous sponsors, we expanded into Costa Rica and Nicaragua, working alongside Lifeguard Foundations running water safety courses and surf camps for the local kids and their families across Central America.

That pursuit of human potential as its edges led me to the mountains. As a videographer for the Dreamcatcher - a record breaking highline project staged in the backcountry of Silverton, Colorado at over 14,000 feet elevation - I documented over 20 athletes as they came together to test, anchor, build, and rig two highlines stretching over a kilometer long. With the goal of reaching a mile long line, we all worked closely with park rangers, the team broke US records for the highest and longest parallel highlines ever rigged, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible when a community of athletes show up with the shared purpose and a serious tether.

That spirit of empowerment carried into an unexpected corner of surf culture. Where I was working with shapers, board builders, and leaders of the culture and movement of surfing. Surfing in Heels is a series of short form content videos following a single surfer riding waves - in heels. What started as a bold, playful concept grew into something far bigger, curation over 3 million views across two platforms and sparking conversation. A reminder that the most powerful stories are often the ones nobody saw coming.

Different worlds - one thorough line. Showing up and helping out. Building something real.

Venture Collective Co is not just a business, it is abstract and real hands-on work; with the simplest goal to connect under, one cause - showing up and helping out, building something real, and leaving communities much stronger than when found.

Always happy to connect, help with the next phase of your passion projects, connect you with those who can, or simply print images for your space!
